My story is a tale as old as time. Ha! Getting ripped of by a hotel who took the words of a liar and robbed me of $538 An amount that is critical to my survival as I am primarily homebound/disabled. I was invited by “friends” who told me it would cost me nothing. I accepted because I had given up on ever seeing a beach again. Biggest mistake I’ve made in a long while. Due to the hotel not taking cash, I gullibly and *****ically used my card to hold the room. When we got there my “friend” put money on his chime card and gave that info to the front desk clerk. It was meant to replace my card but unbeknownst to me the hotel held on to my card info and even billed me an additional $256 WITHOUT my authorization. Here I am left with a literal dime to my name for the rest of the month. So I finally get in touch with the highest ranking employee, General Manager Casey, who tells me tough sh*t, there’s nothing she “can” (will) do and refused to give me the owner’s information. I HATE the fact that I sound like a Karen, I’m emphatically not a Karen, I’m a Kim. I don’t write reviews, in fact this is my first ever. A hotel that takes in tens of thousands (I repeatedly heard “we’re a business) probably hundreds of thousands, wasn’t willing to help me with my $538 is a greedy, money hungry unfit piece of garbage. I’m a crippled old woman with nothing to do so I’m gonna write as many less than zero reviews as I can. You stole my grocery money, my light bill money, my medications money, and more and you should be ashamed. It’s all about that mighty dollar isn’t it Casey?

This was our 3rd stay & definitely not the last. This time we stayed 5 nights over Labor Day weekend. It was a sold out weekend, so it was very busy with tons of people. Evening receptions were handled well with friendly bartenders & varied snacks. The breakfast buffet was delicious & varied, also made-to-order omelettes, and despite a crazy amount of people, seemed very organized. Of note, * Diandra * on the breakfast staff was amazing. She was in constant motion each day, maintaining organization while still sweet & helpful with many guests. While constantly working, she assisted guests with extra chairs while juggling things, cleaning up, just constantly working & always with a smile. So personable, greeting everyone each morning. Been to alot of Hilton breakfasts (Diamond) and Diandra is best. The new pool complex is great. Lots of seating, chaise loungers everywhere w tidy umbrellas, very comfortable. We always book a room overlooking the pool & it was interesting watching them prep the pool area each morning. The kids water park is better than ever (miss the lazy river tho) and the slide is fun for adults too! 😍Small pool bar w several kinds of beer, plentiful pool towels, restaurant servers available until 4pm. It would be nice if there was a way to keep people from “saving” chairs, then leaving; seems to happen everywhere tho. Nice updated rooms since our last visit, easy to text front desk for needed supplies, towels ect. Front desk manager Drew has helped us before & was even replying to text requests on the busiest days. We love it here. We’ve also stayed at the Hilton a few doors down. Kingston is our favorite area of Myrtle & Embassy is best. Will be back in March!

We had a wonderful time at the Sandy Beach Resort. It is located more at the northern end of the Grand Strand, near the 2nd Ave pier. We booked through Airbnb with Codey. Communication with our host was excellent, our fridge was not working well and maintenance was at our door ten minutes after contacting Codey, fixing the issue within a couple of hours. The condo was a third floor oceanfront shotgun unit with an excellent view of the beach and ocean, the sunrises were amazing!. It was very clean and well stocked with towels, toilet paper, Kleenex, dish soap and dish towels. There were plenty of plates, glasses and cutlery, an assortment of pots and spatulas etc. Enough to cook a simple meal, which we did a few times. The resort itself was excellent, plenty of lounge chairs at the pool and plenty of pool towels. The common areas were kept very clean, all the staff were very pleasant. We forgot our beach chairs at the pool one day and Cornel was kind enough to look for them and return them to us. The beach was only steps away.I would highly recommend both the Sandy Beach Resort and Codey. Diane, Burlington ON

We've been staying at this Hampton for more than 12 years and always enjoyed it. This year there were too many problems to ignore. Check in was very slow, we waited for almost an hour to get checked in, which has never happened before. The elevators need some maintenance. It sounds like there is a lot of sand in the door track and not sure if they were cleaned while we were there. The room we finally got was nice, although the couch needed to be cleaned and the room could be updated. The breakfast was good, the usual Hampton meal. They have 2 areas to serve breakfast since this is a large hotel, however only one area was open so breakfast was very busy. The breakfast employees did a great job of keeping up though. The pool wasn't cleaned the first day we were there which was a Monday so you can imagine how much sand was in it after a busy weekend. Also made me wonder if the water had been tested for cleanliness. The shower area, when you come off the beach, wasn't cleaned for the 4 days we were there, so rinsing your feet off did no good. That's probably why the pools are full of sand. The boardwalk steps are being overwhelmed by the plants from the sand dunes and look to be in disrepair. But probably the most disturbing thing was the dog situation. We really feel Hilton has made a big mistake allowing dogs on all their properties. This property is not set up for dogs to do their ”business.” The only convenient grassy locations are right by the swimming pools and I do mean very close proximity. Anyone that has ever had a dog knows that no matter how well you try to pick up after a dog, many times there is ”residue” left behind, not to mention all the urninating they are doing in the grass. We sat on our balcony and watched dogs using the grass as their bathroom and then watched people walk through the grass and get in the pool. Not a good set up at all! I really hesitated reviewing this year, but felt the hotel really needs to get back to what made them the number one hotel in Myrtle Beach for years. Not sure if we will give them another chance, which is sad because we really loved this hotel!

This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach October 8-11, with two children ages 3 and 8. We did weeks worth of research before choosing this resort. **You will always find scary and negative reviews for places but I promise you that The Breakers does not disappoint! (Unless you are difficult to please!)** We stayed in the Paradise building on the 20th floor. The view was amazing! The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The water pressure in the shower was great! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and eat meals. The employees at this resort work hard to keep it clean and safe. Housekeeping checked in daily to replenish towels and take our trash. We enjoyed the pools and hot tubs and lazy river. This is a great location, steps from the ocean and walking distance to stores and restaurants. It was nice to have a Starbucks right across the street! It would have been nice if the kids pool was operating since our children and other families were interested in utilizing that amenity. However I was informed by front desk staff that operating hours are determined by the weather and the security team. The shuttle service was great and the driver was knowledgeable and friendly. We were picked up from the airport and were able to schedule rides to local attractions. Overall it was a great trip and we are already looking forward to returning! Thank you Breakers!

This was the 2nd time my wife and I have stayed at the resort in 3 years and we love it. We went 2 days after hurricane Ian and almost cancelled last minute but called and they said everything was ok so we decided to go. A lot of stuff to do at and around the resort plus it’s on the beach so most of our time was spent there. There’s a pool, lazy river, 4-5 hot tubs and a couple baby pools, plus the bar opens to the pool……theres also a small arcade. Get the breakfast package it’s worth it. It’s a buffet plus omelette station so we ate big breakfasts and then only once again in the early evening late afternoon. The staff was super friendly and very helpful especially when it came to things to do in Charleston. Maggie one of the breakfast ladies was super helpful and had some good talks with Gary from the resort store. The rooms are a little outdated but we only get the efficiencies because it’s all we need (maybe if you pay more the rooms are more up to date). The only beef I had with the stay is the fire alarm in my room would randomly go off for the first day and it was annoying at first but we didn’t stay in the room long so didn’t notice it. It stopped after the first day. View from the room. Oceanfront not ocean view!

This was the second time we stayed in this hotel, mainly because we had our dog with us part of the trip and Red Roof doesn’t charge pet fee. The first time we visited was in the winter and the room we stayed was fairly clean, but this time we visited in June, the room was not as clean. First after we checked in, we got a room either it was not cleaned or someone still in it; there were towels and clothes everywhere. We went back to the front desk and changed to a different room, the room showed it was cleaned but the floor was still pretty dusty and sandy, we were too tired to request room change again so we just used the towel to wipe the floor ourselves. Overall the hotel was OK for the price we paid. It is a lower budget hotel and dated. I have no problem with an older hotel, but just wish they can at least clean the room better.

Stayed May 3rd. Sink backed up, Room next door singing really load at 6:00am. All the USB plugs were broken, and the room smelled of smoke. When we called the front desk about the singing, they laughed. I asked about some points back at check out, and they said they would look into it. All reviews on their website are from the after stay survey. They send them to who they want, it isn't automatic. I asked for one and they wouldn't send it! I filled out a complaint form on Bonvoy web site and was contacted and was told they would get back to me. 3 weeks later, no reply ! I had to write this review, so no one would repeat my troubles. Avoid this hotel, points are low for it because the value is.

Upon checking in, front office staff completely overwhelmed, not welcoming and seemed to be disgusted as more people were walking in. Disappointed that there was a $12 parking fee per day that I was not told about until checking in, and on top of that a 2.5% fee for using a card even though they are cashless. Not sure why that’s our fault. Also either had to charge a card $200 for a hold or pay a non refundable $39.99 charge. Rooms are a little outdated and there is a funky smell in the hallways/rooms, but hey, it’s myrtle beach 🤷‍♀️ 5 stars go to Scott in maintenance: Had an issue with a lamp in our room, called maintenance & Scott came up right away, fixed the issue, apologized & thanked us for staying. The maintenance guy thanked us but not front staff, maybe Scott could teach the front about customer service. Interested in seeing what the rest of the week holds.

After many years of traveling to Myrtle Beach for an Annual Beach Vacation, I decided to try a different resort this year. This was my first visit to the Beach since the Pandemic began. This change in resort was a huge decision because I really liked the ocean front Hilton resort I normally stayed at. But the Island Vista did not disappoint! From the Housekeeping to Maintenance to Front desk to Restaurant staff all the way to a brief conversation with an Owner in the hallway …. EVERYONE was so courteous and professional ! The prompt service was like they only had 10 rooms under their care instead of a huge hotel! It really was like something rarely seen these days! The room was extremely neat and housekeeping did an excellent job prepping my room (1 Bedroom Grand Suite) prior to arrival. I ate exclusively at the on-site restaurant! Quality was exceptional and consistent! The grounds and pool area were immaculately maintained. I loved all the COMFY chair choices in the outside grassy courtyard area with PLENTY of shade to find with the generous palms. I enjoyed the more “adult” atmosphere of this Resort. Beach views were great from the restaurant and courtyard. Beach chair rentals at the ocean were available on request. I enjoyed very much the evening entertainment (acoustic/electric solo guitar player) during dinner and while lounging in the courtyard! That’s a wonderful touch for the guests. Volume just right! SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO “TELI” - Teli is working the 3-11 shift at the front desk and was there when I checked in. She was SO professional and cordial. EVERY TIME I saw her she made sure I knew she was there from 3-11, and her job was to make my stay extremely comfortable! I knew I had an ear if I needed it! Teli is sooo passionate about her responsibilities and customers! Thank You Island Vista for Teli !!! Note to Management: There are only a couple of staff that I noticed are not as enthusiastic about their position responsibilities …. as say,,, Teli ! Without naming specific departments, please always stay in touch with your employees and continue to screen those that don’t represent the 99% of your staff. They are as visible as any other employee in the daily comings and going’s and reflect upon the VIBE and impression of the Island Vista. I also like the 24 hour Security presence at the resort. These are trained professionals and NOT an older, retired person that can barely hold their eyes open. (We’ve all seen them!). Some may feel differently about having an actual ARMED Security presence at the Resort, but they are there to keep everyone safe and NOT because there is any problem at the Resort. Owner and Management are just being proactive to ENSURE we can all vacation with peace of mind! They are in the background, not intrusive, but you know they are there and to me that added an extra layer of comfort in today’s crazy times. All that said, the Resort is located in a neighborhood setting, and it was

Great place to stay in Myrtle Beach. We rented a king bed with ocean view balcony. We were not disappointed with watching the ocean sunrise from our room. Room was spacious with full fridge, freezer, small stovetop and mini dishwasher. The hot breakfast buffet was a nice perk for one less meal to eat out. We did not use the pool for our visit but looked great and would be fun for kids. Its so nice to be on the beach and boardwalk to go walking. I would definitely stay here again or recommend to otherw for the price. I got a great deal on hopper app 2 weeks before hand.

Hotel itself and the staff we interacted with on a daily basis were all great. However, I have one major issue. There is NO PLACE FOR SOAP in the walk-in shower in my handicapped accessible bathroom. When I mentioned it at check-out, I felt the desk clerk was very dismissive of this — oh, that’s the way it was built (15 years ago!), just put down the seat and put the soap there. First, what kind of a “solution” is that for this level of property, and when I need to SIT on the seat, where do I put the soap then? The clerk had no solution to that. First, just the fact that such a design had even been approved in the first place is ridiculous, then, nothing has been done to correct it over the years — SERIOUSLY? — and finally the nonchalant attitude of the clerk about it are really astonishing to me for what was otherwise quite a nice property.

We spent two weeks there in September (last two weeks) and had an awesome time. Ocean View was awesome - saw dolphins almost every morning. Clean, great amenities, helpful pleasant staff. You always saw people working around the pool, landscaping, cleaning. Our room was very clean - even had little swans made out of the towels on the beds when we arrived. Opted out for daily cleaning - but had them come once in the middle - they were there within 20 minutes. Asked for towels at one point - we had those within 5 minutes. Tons of amenities. Beach was great. Great for families or couples. Restaurants are convenient. Best sleep ever - the mattress was comfortable and pillows so comfortable that we are ordering some for our home. Highly recommend - can't wait to go back. We keep looking at the pictures and wish we were still there!!! We were in the Pinnacle Bldg. Ocean Front - Amazing View!

I got the suite with a jacuzzi and it was great. 2 beds, full kitchen and a living room overlooking the beach/ocean. Can't say enough good things about the room or the staff. I was there for 2 1/2 weeks and my dad came down for the last week for his birthday. I had great wi-fi which was needed for work the first week and a couple of minor issues were quickly resolved by the front office. The jacuzzi was really nice and really HOT. While I can't say that this place is a 5 star fancy like the Ritz, it is 5 star for value. Clean, great price and the best location going. Right next to the pier with a great restaurant and about a mile from the heart of beach attractions (including the Bowery!). Walked there on the boardwalk several times. The staff was amazing especially my housekeeper, Laura. Kept my room spotless even when I left half the beach and popcorn in the room. I will be back!

We just arrived yesterday and were skeptical after a bad experience with Booking.com We booked this stay in July and 2 weeks ago received notification it had been canceled. I immediately contacted the resort directly and rebooked. They were unable to get us in the same room Saturday thru Saturday but had to put us in a non oceanfront room the first night. Not liking this room, not gonna lie, but hopefully today when we check in to our next room it will be better. Having said that, we had a great first night!! JUDY at registration was so sweet and understanding. She tried her best to put us in a room where we wouldn't have to switch today. She couldn't but did tell us we would be in our room early today and she was super helpful. Thank you Judy!! We then went down to the tiki bar. It was 6:15 and we were told they would be closing at 7. But there was a big party arriving around 7:30 and SARAH agreed to stay open a little later and she was fantastic!! The drinks we had were perfect and she was a wonderful bartender!! CARLA, the cook, also did a wonderful job feeding everyone when they arrived. Neither of them complained about staying over but did it willingly and they were both pleasant and professional!! So although we do have to check out and then back in, which we are not happy about, everything has been great so far!!! I will write another review once we are in our permanent room!

The front desk staff is incompetent. At check in, I informed the desk clerk that I would be paying with cash for my family's stay and I wanted two rooms for two nights. The desk clerk then took my card to put a ”deposit hold” (which turned out to be the full amount for the stay) and booked one room for one night. At this time I corrected him and said I need two rooms for two nights. I get all my card keys, settle in and the next day I get a call from the Marriott telling me I missed checkout for one of the rooms. It turns out, he had booked one room for two nights and the other room for one. Straightened that out, stayed for the second night, and upon checking out found out the second night was charged to my card and could not be reversed after I told them I'd be paying cash at checkout. Inconvenient but whatever. I pay the rest that is owed using cash and I am told the deposit they held on my card at check in would be returned to my account within 48hrs. The next day I receive 1/4th of the hold back on my card. Four days later and the rest is still not returned to my account. At this time I call the Marriott and they inform me that the desk clerk that told me my deposit would be returned within 48hrs was wrong and that it would actually be 5-7 business days. Dealing with this establishment has been a hassle since check in and what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turned into issue after issue. My family and I will not be returning to any Marriott.

The GOOD - 1. Location, does not get better than this at Myrtle Beach. This is located at the end of the 'strip of myrtle beach' as is away from the crowds on Ocean blvd. 2. The hotel is well made in terms of design. Whatever you need is located at a convenient spot. Parking is close to the rooms in both the buildings, but costs you $10/night. 3. Good sleep quality, I got a good 8-hour sleep The BAD - 1. Condition of the rooms is awful. The carpet is the dirtiest I have ever seen in any hotel. Imagine the amount of dirt they hold and the air you will breathe inside the room! 2. No USB points. Clearly indicates that the hotel has not been upgraded for decades. Luckily, found one USB point in the alarm clock. 3. Room Service - The rooms are cleaned only when requested. I requested. The guy came, vacuumed the room, made the bed and left! Did not even collect the used towels from the floor or place new toiletries. The towels remained in the room until our check out. The UGLY - 1. Pool - Dirty pools and Ian (hurricane) was the excuse. Most other ocean front hotels had clean pools with people in them. The pools in this property were filled with filth and insects. The lazy river is actually the 'dirty river'. The pool was so called ”cleaned” after I complained, but it was still very dirty, so I just avoided to get in it. 2. Property Maintenance - This could potentially be the best resort in MB but it is so poorly maintained, it's a shame! One of the employees at Hilton Grand Vacations told me in this trip that this is meant to be the ”overflow property” of Hilton in MB and because it is so poor, it might be stripped off of the Hilton badge next year; can't say if it was true, but clearly indicates that employees are aware of the condition of this resort. Had this been a properly maintained resort, I would have stayed here during all my visits to MB, but I aint coming back!

This location is directly on the Grand Strand and is walking distance from the central Myrtle beach downtown. A great place for family’s with kids, but make sure you get a room on the higher floors. My main complaint is we were in the 5th floor, which is the first floor of residential rooms. Floor 3 and 4 are sales demo rooms and meeting rooms to sell you into timeshares. The reason I say get up higher is, there is a night club that plays heavy bass every night until 2am, and you can feel it though the walls on my floor. I’m used to staying up late, but it is a bit annoying. The only other inconvenience is in my 10 day stay, they will only clean your room once, midweek. Even after I requested new linen and towels, they said maid service is gone, and is not possible. They did offer to drop off sheets and towels. I guess this is the difference between staying at a real Hilton vs a timeshare, and they do pressure you to taking a 2 hour “tour”. With all the services out there to help you get out of a time share, I’m surprised anyone would still buy into that. The pros out weight the cons, so overall it’s a great place to stay. The beach is amazing as most of Myrtle beach is. If you want peace and quiet, go to north Myrtle beach. If you want close access to the party scene and stores etc, this is the place .

We booked this a couple months ago via Priceline, they had the best deal. This Hampton/Hilton is AMAZING! Starting with the staff, you feel great the moment you check in. I was treated to fresh baked cookies , so you know that also left a lasting impression. Everyone is outgoing and pleasantly enthusiastic. The room is nice and very clean. The entire hotel is also clean and fresh. The free breakfast is delicious and also maintained by a couple EXCEPTIONAL ladies. They keep it stocked and clean. This is always such a nice treat. If you don't have time for breakfast, they also had some ”happy kits” available on your exit, which were bagels kits in a bag ready to travel.....so sweet. I would highly recommend this hotel!!!

My family and I just returned from a 3 nights stay at this hotel, and it is was a good stay. The breakfast was good and the location was perfect to nearby restaurants and activities. The only issue I had was the room stayed damp the entire time. Once we got there and turn the AC off, the floor and walls were wet. It even made our clothes damp. I believe this is the reason why there is so much rust in the room. I would suggest putting damp rids in the rooms to assist. Also, it doesn’t hurt to acknowledge your HHonors customers. Years ago when I was employed by Hilton, we acknowledge from Blue to Diamond members. As a Gold Member, some sort of acknowledgement would be good.

I was down here for a medical conference. I have been attending this conference for 26 years. This was the worst experience I have ever had. Our condo room was very musty and smelled of mildew. There was actual mildew in the shower. I the second room we reserved there was sand all over the counter top. There were no sheets were the spare bed. The main area for swimming was under construction. It was suppose to open the last day we were there and it did not open. One of our main interest in this hotel compound is the hot tubs- well they were all under construction and not available. There is no daily cleaning services available. One of the reason I choose this conference is the ability to listen to the conference on closed circuit TV. Well - the audio visual was horrible. Picture was blurred and sound was hazy. When you called the support services their response was it’s not their problem. I tried to log into the virtual hub supplied by the conference and had trouble connecting because of poor Wi-Fi. Again- their response was - not their problem. Tried to discuss the problems with the manager and he was “not available” nor responsive. I’m even a Hilton honors member. I will most likely not come back to this conference and would not recommend this place for a conference nor a stay. No wonder they had to turn to Groupon to fill their rooms.
